The University of Nairobi (UoN) has received a significant boost to dental training following the donation of a dental chair worth Ksh. 1.5 million from DYM, a leading dental equipment manufacturer and supplier based in China.
The handover ceremony took place at the Department of Dental Sciences on Thursday, September 25, 2025, and was graced by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Margaret Hutchinson.
During the event, Prof. Hutchinson engaged Ms. Dong May, CEO of DYM, who made the donation through the President of the Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya, Mr. Xian Weijian (popularly known as Kim).
Prof. Hutchinson commended the generous gesture, noting that such collaborations are essential in enhancing the University’s mandate in teaching, training, and research.
“At the University of Nairobi, we value partnerships. This should not be the end but the beginning of many more collaborations across our departments, faculties, and institutes,” she remarked.
The donation will be instrumental in training dentists and supporting diagnostic services at the University of Nairobi Dental School.
On their part, DYM and the Canton Chamber of Commerce pledged to strengthen collaboration with UoN, exploring additional areas of support to advance teaching, learning, and research.
UoN extends sincere gratitude to Eng. Dong May and the Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya for their generosity and commitment to improving healthcare training.
